The members of the American team of the Ryder Cup followed their defeat 17.5-10.5 against the European team Sunday with critical comments to each other in the media.

According to Karen Crouse of the New York TimesPatrick Reed "was caught off guard" when captain Jim Furyk teamed Jordan Spieth with Justin Thomas instead of the reigning Masters champion. Reed instead played with Tiger Woods, and one source said it was what he wanted in a not so subtle search.

"It's so full of s-t," said Monday an anonymous member of the US team, by Mark Cannizzaro of New York Post. "He begged me to play with Tiger."

The Spieth-Reed couple was successful with a 4-1-2 record in the Ryder Cup. That goes to 8-1-3 when Presidents Cup games are included. In contrast, Reed was 0-2 while he was associated with Woods at this year's competition.

Reed won his singles match against Tyrrell Hatton on Sunday, but was clearly shocked by the team portion.

In Crouse 's interview, Reed said he told Furyk that Spieth was his first choice as a gaming partner and that Woods was his second:

"The problem is obviously that Jordan does not want to play with me.I have no problem with Jordan. In the end, I do not care if I like the person with whom I am paired or if I love it as long as it works and it trains the team for success. He and I know how to improve ourselves, we know how to do the job. "

Reed, nicknamed Captain America for his previous success at the Ryder Cup, also expressed dismay at the fact that he was left out for some of the action.

"For someone as good as I am at the Ryder Cup, I do not think it's wise to sit down twice," Reed said.

However, the anonymous source of Cannizzaro largely blamed Reed's shoulders and declared that he felt unhappy that Furyk was forced to handle it.

"He would have shot 83 on his own ball on Saturday, he totally screwed up Tiger, he had no idea how to play golf in a team, I saw first-hand how good he was a player. Eleven players understood the concept of team golf and only one Unfortunately, it proved to be too expensive for the team. I feel so bad for Jim because he was an unreal captain. He would have crossed a wall for the 12 guys. Unfortunately, only 11 players would have been rewarded. "

Spieth was not paired with Reed, but he compiled a 3-1 record while he was playing with his childhood friend Thomas.

It was not enough and the Americans have not won the Ryder Cup on European soil since 1993.
