Fleetwood insists Europe won’t be affected by USA stars at Ryder Cup

Team Europe star Tommy Fleetwood has insisted that his team will not be affected by the presence of big-name players such as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for Team USA at this year’s Ryder Cup, according to a report on the Daily Mail.

This will be Fleetwood’s first Ryder Cup appearance and he claims that the fact that the USA has Woods and Mickelson won’t have a negative impact on himself and his teammates.

Both Woods and Mickelson were used as wildcard picks by USA captain Jim Furyk and will add plenty of experience and skill to their talented lineup.

When speaking about the tournament, Fleetwood said:

Most of us guys on the European team play in the same tournaments against Phil and Tiger week in and week out at the moment.

You can’t deny they’re two of the best golfers ever and they always will be, but when you tee it up you’re just playing another golfer, it doesn’t matter who it is.

They were always guaranteed to be picked and they’ve had good years themselves. Phil won a World Golf Championship and Tiger could have won three or four events on his comeback and he’s playing some great stuff.

But that will make no difference to us, it really won’t. It will help their team in an experience sense just because they’ve played so many Ryder Cups but it will make no difference to us.

Team Europe have the home advantage and majority of the players have played with Woods and Mickelson multiple times, meaning they have nothing to fear when they come up against each other later this month at the Le Golf National course just outside Paris.
