Tiger Woods: 2019, the rebirth

Two years ago, Tiger Woods
was a golfer at risk and no one saw him return to the course.
2019 proved wrong to the pessimists and put the Tiger, now Phoenix, back in the
race for records.

Tiger Woods for the best
and worse

It was in Las Vegas one evening in October 1996 that it all started. A
local tournament victory marks the start of a 20-year golf reign
world. Tiger Woods won 14 Major titles and was world number 1
for 683 weeks accumulated. He has had countless victories and an image
perfect until addictions and marital problems keep her away
routes.

Never in his career has the Tiger been spared by the
injury. He enters the operating room for the first time when he has
than 18 years old. He underwent a total of 5 knee and 4 back operations. At the end of 2017, it
point to the 656e world place and a lot, not to say everything
the world thinks it’s over for sport.

The Augusta Master, for
rewrite history

When he shows up at Augusta in April 2019, Tiger Woods didn’t win
for 11 years in Major (2008, the US Open). No one is expecting it, but the American
particularly appreciates the Master and its decisive Amen Corner. After 4 days
extremely tense, Woods wins the 83e edition of the Master
of Augusta, a blow to Johnson, Schauffele and Koepka.

Amen Corner
What is that ?

The Amen
Corner, you know? This is the name given to the hole 11,
12 and 13 for their difficulty.

A record over 44 years

After a calm summer, Woods is talked about again in Japan. A victory at
Zozo Championship allows him to equal a 54-year-old record: that of
number of victories on the American circuit. Only the legendary Sam Snead had
reached, at 52, the mythical barrier of 82 successes. Tiger Woods just celebrated its 44e
birthday and an ’ultimate record still resists him: that of the 18
Majors won by Jack Nicklaus. Tiger Woods is in 15.

The Presidents Cup: the
icing on the cake 2019

If golf is an individual sport par excellence, it has some major team competitions: the Ryder Cup (USA against Europe) and the Presidents Cup (USA against the rest of the world). In December, Tiger Woods was a player and captain of the US team for the Presidents Cup in Australia. The American victory in this double suit for Woods represents an almost unprecedented success (only one player achieved it before him). The Tiger is released, direction 2020 and a new challenge: the Olympic Games.

Tiger Woods: still as bankable

Tiger woods
became in 2009 the first billionaire of the sport thanks to its gains and its
advertising contracts. Released by many of its sponsors during its escapades
extra-marital, the Tiger can count on golf to rebuild his health
financial: his victory at Augusta earned him 1.85 million euros and
that in Japan was accompanied by a check for 1.75 million euros.
